Student Health Insurance Plan
The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is a comprehensive plan offered through Aetna Student Health. In alignment with the Affordable Care Act, SHIP guarantees that you can obtain necessary treatment if you develop a serious illness or injury. It also guarantees that you can obtain preventative medical services like immunizations and physical exams. All undergraduate students will be automatically enrolled in SHIP. It is estimated that all undergraduate students will be charged $2,180 to their accounts for the 2020-2021 academic year.
CLICK HERE to waive SHIP. Those interested in the waiver must have proof of insurance and be registered for classes for the Spring 2021 semester.
The Spring 2021 waiver period for newly enrolled Spring semester students only, begins on December 7th, 2020 and closes on February 1st, 2021. For questions about SHIP, email [email protected].
AlcoholEdu for College: Primary
As part of our comprehensive prevention program for new students, GW requires all incoming undergraduate (first-year and transfer) students to complete AlcoholEdu for College: Primary and pass the course final exam prior to arriving on campus. GW has partnered with EverFi, whose mission is to help students address critical life skills such as alcohol abuse prevention, sexual assault prevention, and financial literacy in higher education institutions across the country, to administer this two-part online education module.
Please note: You must complete the online courses by the deadlines or a transcript hold will be placed on your student account.
