Accessing Counseling and Your First Meeting

We strive to make counseling as accessible as possible for students; therefore no appointment is necessary to make your first contact with one of our mental health counselors.

Spring 2022 Information

Please refer to our Services FAQ for more information about how COVID-19 has affected our operations for Spring 2022.

The first step to accessing counseling is to attend a free, brief and confidential consultation with a member of our counseling team by calling 202-994-5300. During your consultation with the counselor, you will discuss the problems you would like support with and create a plan of action to address your needs.

Consultations are being done through both telehealth and in-person during business hours at this time due to COVID-19. There is no appointment necessary, just call 202-994-5300 during business hours 12:00-4:00pm Monday through Friday and 12-4pm Saturday and Sunday or come to the CHC to request an in-person consultation.

If you are in crisis and are in need of urgent support outside of business hours, you can access support by calling the CHC and will be directed to an on-call clinician.

If you are in crisis or experiencing a life-threatening emergency please call GWPD at 202-994-6111, call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.
