Accessing Counseling and Your First Meeting

We strive to make counseling as accessible as possible for students; therefore no appointment is necessary to make your first contact with one of our mental health counselors.

The first step to accessing counseling is to attend a free, brief and confidential consultation with a member of our counseling team. During your consultation with the counselor, you will discuss the problems you would like support with and create a plan of action to address your needs.

Consultations can be done in-person at the Colonial Health Center or by phone, during business hours.  There is no appointment necessary, just come in or call during walk-in hours 1-4pm Monday through Friday.  If you are in crisis and are in need of urgent support, you can access support by coming into the Center anytime 9am-5pm Monday through Friday and asking to speak with a counselor.  There is no fee for any urgent care or walk-in meetings.

We are aware that some students may prefer to meet with clinicians with specific areas of expertise to foster a sense of emotional safety in counseling. We offer walk-in periods that are staffed with clinicians who have specific and relevant expertise in these areas of diversity. The schedule for these walk-in periods is below.  (NOTE: Specialized walk-in periods are not offered during the summer and winter break.)
