Welcome to the Student Health Center
Welcome to the Student Health Center
The Student Health Center is your on‑campus home for comprehensive, compassionate, and accessible care. Whether you are navigating a demanding academic schedule, adjusting to life in Washington, DC, or simply looking for support to stay well, our team is here to partner with you throughout your time at GW.
We provide a full range of primary care medical services, counseling and psychological support, and psychiatric care through both in‑person and virtual appointments. Our staff clinicians, medical and psychiatric providers work collaboratively to ensure you receive coordinated, whole‑person care that reflects your needs, your identity, and your goals.
All students are welcome to use the Student Health Center, regardless of their insurance plan. While the university requires students to carry health insurance, you may choose any qualifying plan. The Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) is available as an option, but not a requirement, and your access to care at the health center does not depend on enrolling in it.
In addition to our on‑campus and virtual services, students also have access to TimelyCare, a 24/7 virtual health platform offering free counseling, medical and psychiatric support from anywhere in the United States. TimelyCare expands your ability to get help when you need it—late at night, during breaks, or while traveling—so you’re never without support.
Our commitment is simple: to provide high‑quality, student‑centered care that helps you thrive academically, personally, and emotionally. We encourage you to reach out early and often, whether you’re seeking preventive care, managing a health concern, or looking for someone to talk to—we are here to support you throughout your GW journey.
Best wishes for a healthy year ahead,
Aaron Brown, Director of Administration and Operations
Dr. Rebekka Christie, Director, Medical Service
