Sarafina is grounded in solutions-focused and trauma-informed therapy models. In such a problem-focused world, Sarafina finds it inspiring to hear about what's going right, how people have made it through difficult times, and what people are doing well. Her hope is to help clients expand upon what's working and take steps towards their preferred future. Sarafina uses an extremely collaborative, intersectional, humble and curious approach to her therapeutic work. Sarafina celebrates the strength it takes to seek out therapy and believes it is a great honor when clients choose to let her listen. Sarafina has completed training in both Solutions-Focused and Narrative Therapy. Sarafina has completed training in psychedelic harm reduction and integration, as well as mindfulness and somatic therapy practice.

Sarafina has worked in community-based organizations focused on serving families and children impacted by physical and/or sexual abuse and intergenerational trauma. She has had experience serving clients in both individual and group therapy settings. She worked for a professor at American University whose research focuses on race, hiring practices, marketing, and social justice. When Sarafina is not at the office, you can find her playing with her new puppy, Beetle, running around DC, and watching Love is Blind on Netflix. 

Sarafina graduated from American University in 2016 and has a unique understanding of what it's like attending college in DC. Sarafina graduated with a Masters in Social Work with a specialization in Behavioral Health from the University of Maryland School of Social Work.
